Vincent V.C. Woo Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Institute was officially established on 15 November 2023 at the School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), by upgrading from the Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Clinical Study Centre. HKBU held the naming ceremony on 15 November 2023. Professor Zhaoxiang BIAN, Hospital Chief Executive of Chinese Medicine Hospital and Associate Vice-President (Clinical Chinese Medicine) of HKBU, serves as Founding Director and Co-Director of the Institute. Professor Aiping LYU, Vice-President (Research and Development) cum Dean of Graduate School and Acting Dean of School of Chinese Medicine of HKBU, is Co-Director of the Institute.

The Institute focuses on high-quality clinical research in Chinese medicine across a wide range of target diseases through multidisciplinary collaboration, including COVID-19, ulcerative colitis, constipation, stroke, depressive disorder, diabetes mellitus, etc.

To be a leading research institution in Chinese medicine for the world delivering academic excellence in the standardisation and internationalisation of clinical research in Chinese medicine.

Mission

To excel in Chinese medicine health research with multidisciplinary collaboration and strive to conduct high-quality clinical research in the integration of pharmacology, biology, and big data science. Furthermore, to nurture talents for Chinese medicine clinical research in Hong Kong.

 
Goals

1) Conduct high-quality clinical studies in Chinese medicine to deliver high-quality evidence and improve the health outcomes of patients.

2) Develop the reporting guidelines to enhance the reporting standardisation of medical research in Chinese medicine.

3) Provide education and training on the methodology and reporting of medical research in Chinese medicine to promote the researchers' academic ability.

Vincent V.C. Woo Chinese Medicine Clinical Research Institute was funded by the Vincent and Lily Woo Foundation and located at Room 105 of the Academic and Administration Building, Room 205 and the third floor of the Jockey Club School of Chinese Medicine Building of Hong Kong Baptist University.
